The owner of this building has a permit for a three-storey addition that includes converting the ground level to a restaurant and increasing the number of residential units from one to four. This kind of minor and long overdue intensification has become increasingly common on Danforth in the Greenwood Avenue to Main Street corridor. Meanwhile, down closer to Broadview Avenue, we just get big retail boxes. I have nothing against the proposed LCBO or existing Shoppers Drug Mart (laughable façadism aside), but any building constructed on Danforth these days should have street-level retail and residential, office, or some other use on levels above.
