This past summer was a busy time in Dodgeville and, as always, there were far more pictures taken than posts about them. Here’s a gallery of just a few of the things that didn’t quite get into their own posts.
-
- Just off a hiking trail at Trent University, this algae-covered swamp looked like a manicured lawn from a distance.
-
- The waterfront trail in Mississauga will remain closed until two years ago. This sign was still posted in July 2012.
-
- Felicity traverses one of the crossings at the Treetop Trekking adventure at Horseshoe Valley. Forget riding metric centuries, walking on the CN Tower, or lugging loaded trailers around town; walking across wires and other obstacles for three hours was easily the most exhausting thing I did this summer.
-
- This snakeskin was curled up on a quiet backroad near East Dodgeville. I couldn't tell whether it had been previously moulted or if there was still a snake inside it when it had been run over by a car. Either way, it was flat, dry, and pretty creepy.
-
- In Scarborough's Rosetta McClain Gardens, a six-armed tree provides a comfy seat. There's even a handy footstool at the base.
-
- A shy Clydesdale kept an eye on Risa and me from behind a tree while we took pictures.
-
- This old ski hill is just off Twyn Rivers Drive in Rouge Park. We went tobogganning down this hill a few times in the 1970s. Despite having Riverdale Park as my local toboggan hill when I was growing up, this monster remains the source of my most vivid sliding memories.
-
- Some of the Ward 29 Bikes contingent pose for a picture before the East York Canada Day Parade got underway this year. Join us next year!
-
- One of the best things at this year's East York Canada Day Parade was the quilted car.
-
- Climbing out onto the screen covering the CN Tower's observation deck never ocurred to me until I saw the sign prohibiting it.
-
- Passing by Marty Moo's in Peterborough always makes me want to sing the Walley World theme song.
-
- Someone is eating this leaf very methodically.
-
- Now I know where to go to buy painted wooden butterflies.
-
- The best part of cycling in rural areas is getting to ride down roads like this one near Peterborough.
-
- This dead tree seems to be warning that autumn is getting closer.
